In August of 2017, Georgia Power selected Bechtel to complete construction of the two-reactor expansion of a nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia. Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first new units built in the U.S. in the last three decades and are currently the only new units being constructed in the country.

At the peak of construction, this vital project will employ up to 5,000 on site. These positions will include building tradespeople, engineers, field supervisors, construction and project managers, quality assurance professionals, safety professionals, procurement, subcontract specialists and many others.

This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.

Role Overview

This position is responsible for leading audits and/or surveillances to verify effective implementation of the project quality assurance program. Responsibilities include:

- Prepares audit checklists for quality assurance audits of project program/plans to assess performance to established criteria and implementation of the Quality Assurance Program.
- Lead and/or participate in audit and/or surveillance teams to ensure accurate, thorough and timely completion of approved scope.
- Mentors associates and subject matter experts on the audit and/or surveillance process
- Documents the results of audits and surveillances in accordance with Quality Department procedures and the project Corrective Action Program

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or quality assurance from an accredited university or college with 6 years of progressive experience in a field of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations or quality assurance.
- Or in lieu of degree, a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in a field of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations or quality assurance.
- Current or recent Lead Auditor Certification in a nuclear environment in accordance with NQA-1 and/or ANSI N45.2.23 requirements.
- Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.
- Must possess legal right to work in US without sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

- Technical knowledge in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, or Quality Assurance sufficient to comprehend the application of and relationships to technical and quality requirements in engineering, procurement, and construction related products (specifications, drawings, material requisitions, purchase orders, subcontracts, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability with oral and written communications.
- Ability to use a computer and intermediate skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities regulated by the NRC in accordance with 10CFR Part 26 (FFD)

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with implementation of 10CFR 50 Appendix B/ NQA-1, 1994
- Working knowledge of, or experience with the review of specifications, drawings, material requisitions, services requisitions, purchase orders, subcontracts, and interfacing with suppliers.
- Working knowledge in the application of construction, engineering, procurement, operations, commissioning, training, environmental safety & health, and subcontract practices sufficient to comprehend regulatory requirements applicable to said applications.
- Specialized courses in engineering, technical or quality assurance disciplines.
- Knowledge of the application of corrective actions for conditions adverse to quality.
- Knowledge of the application of nonconformance and deficiency reports for nonconforming or deficient items.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, nuclear safety culture and functions that impact the QA program.
