Civil, Structural & Architectural interns provide critical expertise in civil and structural aspects of our projects. This includes site preparation, foundation and structures of industrial facilities, power plants, or commercial facilities. CSA Engineering interns at Bechtel have a world of career opportunities.

Each year, we hire many Civil, Structural, and Architectural Engineering interns. The total number of hires and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on project needs, and may include Houston, TX or Reston, VA, along with various project sites.

General Job Duties

CSA Engineering interns may be responsible for:

- Preparing and reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications, plans and requisitions of structures, systems and equipment;
- reviewing design documents from equipment suppliers;
- construction support as it relates to civil earthwork design activities;
- providing critical interface with equipment suppliers and contractors;
- working with design concepts for structures and equipment; and
- conducting computer aided design (CAD) & computer aided engineering (CAE).

- Field/Construction: Facilitating build process on-site by modifying engineering documents to support a successful construction operation
- Project Estimating, Scheduling & Cost Control: Estimating costs of projects and developing project schedules by providing an objective view of project performance
- Quality Assurance: Reviewing our work to ensure it meets or exceeds Bechtel’s quality standards and our customers’ quality expectations
- Startup & Facility Operations: Testing, calibrating and verifying mechanical and electrical equipment and systems on a project site to have it ready for “turn on,” with an operating manual
- Tanks: Whether it's ambient, low temperature or cryogenic storage tanks or pressure vessels, there are a broad range of products and services needed for Bechtel engineering and construction projects

Basic Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited college or University
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited college or University
- Previous co-op or internship experience
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
