Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):
Ubicada a 800 km al noreste de Lima, Perú, Yanacocha es la mina de oro más grande de Sudamérica. El Proyecto WTP consiste en dos de las plantas de tratamiento de aguas ácidas más grandes de Sudamérica (la del oeste tendrá una capacidad de 3.000 y la del este 2.700 m3/hora). Actualmente se realizan Trabajos Tempranos en el sitio, preparando las plataformas permanentes y áreas de acopio para las plantas Este y Oeste, además de la estimación Clase 2, programa nivel 3 y el Plan de Ejecución.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.
Major Responsibilities:
- Providing ES&H leadership within the Tank and Storage Department, including preparation and implementation of safety procedures, conducting safety meetings, and participating in incident investigations.
- Coordinating safety training and enforce Bechtel’s safe work practices in alignment with the Zero Accident Philosophy and all applicable Bechtel, local, and national safety standards, and inspecting work areas for unsafe conditions or practices and ensure prompt corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitoring craft activities to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, schedules, and quality standards.
- Reviewing and monitoring subcontractor schedules, resource charts, and material/equipment requirements, approving as necessary to align with project needs and overall construction milestones.
- Coordinating engineering and construction interfaces, ensuring installation and methods meet design, vendor, and project requirements.
- Supporting constructability reviews, working with Design, Field Engineers, Subcontractors, and Craft Professionals to resolve issues.
- Managing cost, schedule, and resource optimization for tank construction activities, including maintaining 90-day and 3-week lookahead schedules.
- Overseeing craft recruitment, labor relations, and training programs, in coordination with Industrial Relations. Reviewing and approving subcontractor mobilization/demobilization and craft time records using project systems.
- Ensuring the use of current design documents and control of design changes before implementation. Providing input to quantity tracking and progress reporting, supporting Project Controls with accurate data and forecasts.
- Preparing material requisitions for tools and consumables, coordinating with Procurement for timely delivery, performing and oversee construction testing as required.
- Preparing and submiting progress reports, manpower and equipment forecasts, and expenditure projections. Leading performance reviews, identify training and development needs, and mentor subordinate personnel.
- Coordinating with other superintendents, area leads, and client representatives to meet project objectives. Implementing corporate policies, procedures and work rules within operations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to the position and 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of equivalent field experience in tank or heavy industrial construction.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong field construction background, with knowledge of API-650 standards.
- Experience with welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, SAW, and use of automatic girth welding machines, flat tractors, and automated insulation equipment.
- Familiarity with large crawler cranes, tower cranes, SPMTs, and heavy lifting programs.
- Technical expertise in tank construction equipment, tools, and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and database applications.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multinational teams, mentor junior personnel, and manage change effectively.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills in a fast-paced field construction environment.
