Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):
Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America’s largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will coordinate Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) training and awareness of a project’s ES&H program. You will work with experts to review course materials and awareness strategies and assist with the processes for content delivery. Your efforts to optimize training and communication will help the ES&H program achieve continuous improvement goals for health and safety on the job.
Major Responsibilities:
- Developing and coordinating environmental, safety, and health (ESH) processes to enhance ESH program implementation.
- Coordinating preparation and implementation of training plans and standard and specialized ESH courses that relate to contracted scopes of work and Bechtel's ESH standards.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop training materials and awareness strategies.
- Leading processes for classroom and instructor-led courses, hands-on training (e.g., hazard school), printed media, and other methods to promote knowledge and awareness of all three ESH disciplines.
- Coordinating the Craft-Based Leadership program including training, recordkeeping, and dissemination of observational information and recommendations from craft professionals and confirms resolution of recommendations.
- Applying the ESH Management System to achieve continual improvement, prepares documentation for the annual program review, and maintains system elements such as a risk register and legal register.
- Identifying ESH stakeholders and tailors training and communication campaigns considering risk assessment, demographics, trades, languages, and other factors.
- Managing the hiring of approved external suppliers when necessary.
- Performing data management and analysis and prepares reports, presentations, EHS performance assessments, and trend analysis.
- Reviewing data from risk assessments, audits, and incidents to identify opportunities to improve training, communication, procedures and processes, and control and mitigation measures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a university degree (or international equivalent) in Environment, Safety, Health, Education or a science-related discipline, with 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Management of Microsoft tools and digital applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI) and corporate platforms/applications, oriented to information management, data analysis, preparation of reports, executive presentations and support to continuous improvement processes.
- Extensive experience in construction projects and solid knowledge of mining standard safety regulations.
- Experience and knowledge in environmental and health regulations applicable to construction projects.
- Knowledge of regulatory regulations and industry standards related to lessons learned needs.
- Ability to write executive reports, develop presentations on ES&H topics and manage resources.
- Knowledge of learning and development systems, environmental and health applications, automation methods and use of computer tools for process improvement.
- General knowledge in writing and production of training, marketing and communication materials.
- Ability to organize, guide and lead ESH meetings with client representatives, internal areas, contractors and subcontractors of the project.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and ability to craft clear and comprehensive correspondence.
