Project Overview: Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP)

Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America’s largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance, direction and ground supervision support for construction and installation activities for all disciplines associated with ISBL equipment and materials.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conducting inspections and initiating supporting documentation for all disciplinary system facilities on an ongoing basis.
  • Providing support to field supervision to establishing (→ correction needed: "to establish" is the correct form here) the labor requirements, tools, equipment, and materials for a given job evolution.
  • Preparing short-term and long-term schedules, and interacting with superintendents and other disciplinary field engineers.
  • Executing take-offs of field material from "Issued For Construction" plans.
  • Providing information to quantity tracking applications and reporting installed quantities on a weekly basis to project controls.
  • Preparing field material requests for equipment and materials, and monitoring the status of purchase orders and deliveries.
  • Troubleshooting design problems, problem-solving with engineering and/or manufacturer through formal field documentation processes and ensuring that all facilities conform to the latest design drawing revisions, specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Acting as a point of contact for the coordination and resolution of all technical issues related to selected contractors on site, providing technical services for the execution of the concrete scope of work of the permanent plant.
  • Completing and verifying the quality documentation according to the inspection and test plans, the final stops of the system, the monitoring and closing of deficiencies, completing and reviewing the documentation as-built.
  • Monitoring the actual performance of the work compared to the project budget and schedule.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in Civil Engineering and 6 years of experience. Certification from the American Institute of Concrete.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Construction experience assigned to a construction site.
  • Experience in industrial construction of direct contracting according to the type of work to be performed.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes routinely acquired over time through specialized instruction or hands-on experience.
  • Shows effective communication skills crucial to motivate team members and present plans in a clear and concise manner.
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Excellent problem solving ability.
  • Experience managing technical service subcontracts.
  • Willingness to work in a camp in the city of Cajamarca at 4200 meters above sea level in an atypical regime.
