Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):

Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America’s largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.

Job Summary:

This role, will be responsible for providing project field engineering support with job planning and packaging, materials management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and system rotation coordination. Your work will contribute to ensuring that field engineering activities operate safely, are complete and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Preparing construction plans and facility planning construction sketches, methods, and procedures.
  • Initiating requests for field purchases and preparing take-offs of quantity of material and equipment purchased in the field.
  • Verifying products in quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensuring that the zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and respected by vessels and others when in the operational area, and that tools and equipment are in a safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively considering continuous learning or showing interest in undertaking appropriate learning activities.
  • Developing a firm understanding of the scope and drawings of the system and area required for package development.
  • Reviewing and approving inspection test plans and coordinating reviews of subcontractor submissions.
  • Carrying out layout engineering (positioning of equipment, piping layout), ensuring proper compliance with layout standards.
  • Preparing drawings/documents for general arrangements and isometric drawings of pipes.
  • Developing or modifying 3D models based on sketches, marked copies, and/or detailed verbal instructions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a technical degree related to Industrial Design, Surveying, Mechanics, or a bachelor’s/technical degree in Civil Construction or Surveying, and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge with a pipeline design/3D design platform. S3D experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD design tools, preferably microstation and 3D.
  • Knowledge in the use of a 3D and 2D isometric drawing extraction software.
  • Knowledge in the use of 3D/2D drawing tools.
  • Intermediate level of English (desirable).
