Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility. The project is in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Job Summary:
The Permit Designer role within the Permitting Department involves a wide range of responsibilities that are crucial to developing an approvable permit application to obtain agency permits in a timely manner. Ensuring design plans comply with regulatory specifications, company design standards, and engineering calculations is crucial in reducing the permitting review/approval duration. #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
- Create detailed drawings using CAD or Microstation software to produce design drawings in 2D and 3D that translate design concepts into accurate technical plans.
- Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to produce accurate designs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory quality standards.
- Ensure that all project designs and specifications meet required standards and codes.
- Research and collect all engineering materials needed to accurately depict the designs in the plan sets.
- Confirm all design dimensioning is accurate and carried through to all other details for consistency.
- Prepare cover sheets, site plans, and any other type of plan set drawings to comply with regulatory comments.
- Prepare exhibits and other supplementary documentation needed to communicate design details and compliance.
- Multitask efficiently with numerous projects at any given time.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software and survey computation tools.
- Understanding of coordinate systems, and construction documentation.
- Ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail in data handling and documentation.
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic construction environment.
- Capable of working independently and in collaboration with survey and engineering teams.
