Project Overview:

Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States

As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility. The project is in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel’s existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements.  #LI-NP1 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Project 

  • Provides Construction recommendations on multiple disciplines 
  • Coordinates with all team members in generating and developing approved Constructability ideas and plans.  
  • Initiates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.  
  • Prepares and may lead Constructability awareness training 
  • Contributes to construction related design decisions by providing Construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence. 

Non-Project 

  • Reviews and delivers Constructability awareness training and/or enterprise or project supervisory and technical training. 
  • Maintains/develops enterprise-wide processes and procedures 
  • Ensures effective implementation of Quality Management System 
  • Promotes development of enterprise applications 
  • Contributes to proposal efforts

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiar with construction tools and equipment as well as their uses.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience in concrete operations; to ensure adequate coordination with batch plant and other stakeholders for smooth and safe execution of concrete activities at site.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Experience managing union craft.
  • Heavy industrial US direct hire construction experience
  • Extensive working knowledge of construction planning, monitoring and control.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
  • Excellent customer relations and communication skills.
