In August of 2017, Georgia Power selected Bechtel to complete construction of the two-reactor expansion of a nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia. Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first new units built in the U.S. in the last three decades and are currently the only new units being constructed in the country. At the peak of construction, this vital project will employ up to 7,500 on site.  These positions will include building tradespeople, engineers, field supervisors, construction and project managers, quality assurance professionals, safety professionals, procurement, subcontract specialists and many others

 

Summary:

Performs on-project scheduling analysis, and control activities including:

  • Schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, impact identification, and recovery planning
  • Reporting and analysis including P6 metrics / Acumen Fuse
  • Support studies, forecasts, problem solving exercises as required

 

Principal responsibilities:

  1. Performs data analysis, identifies problems, and assists with recommendations.
  2. Plans and/or supervises the effort to establish milestones for total project or major portions of the project. Reviews project work activities to ensure support of project milestones.
  3. Performs schedule resource loading and leveling. Development/status/report of all bulk commodity release and installation curves.
  4. Maintains open communications with other organizations to support schedule maintenance and reporting. Identifies schedule restraints.
  5. Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance. Performs schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule activities. Identifies alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.
  6. Prepares schedule recovery plans when required
  7. Ascertains that the correct scope of work and the project execution plan are reflected on all schedules.
  8. Integrates interdiscipline schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties. Works with the performing organizations to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan.
  9. Establishes and implements methods for determining activity durations within assigned disciplines or specialties. 
  10. Develops quantity release or installation curves for assigned disciplines or specialties. Reviews and evaluates quantity records to ensure total quantities are represented for a particular discipline or specialty. Develops required job hour expenditure for assigned disciplines or specialties. Assists in determining leveling decisions. Performs quantity, manpower, and cost resource loading for assigned schedules. Performs performance monitoring and control functions.
  11. Assists cost trend engineer in reviewing home office cost and job hour information with the cost engineer and planner. Coordinates construction trends with the field project control engineer. Analyzes quantity and cost information and predicts changes and trends. Assists with the review and issuance of the monthly project cost and trend reports. Coordinates quantification and estimates for trends and scope changes and provides feedback to estimating regarding cost trends and lessons learned. Interfaces with other members of the project team and provides miscellaneous cost support to Program Lead Cost Engineer as requested.  Provides plans and recommendations to mitigate the impact of potential trends. 
  12. Analyzes schedule data, and identifies and acquires the information needed to complete work logics to interface between assigned disciplines or specialties. Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and work breakdown structures, and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.
  13. Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialties, and identifies significant activities supporting interdiscipline requirements. Identifies critical path for discipline or specialty work activities.
  14. Develops and monitors short term (2-4 week) construction schedules.
  15. Monitors schedule deviation for assigned disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals, and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.
  16. Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports.
  17. Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule.
  18. Provides analysis and reports on assigned areas to the project.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with 13 years of related work experience. In lieu of degree, 19 years of related work experience required.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
  • All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in preparing, monitoring, and reporting schedule information in construction environments.
  • Knowledge in the use of computers for executing work processes.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Proficiency in using Primavera, Acumen Fuse,  and several basic software applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
