Job Description:

In August of 2017, Georgia Power selected Bechtel to complete the construction of the two-reactor expansion of a nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia. Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first new units built in the U.S. in the last three decades and are currently the only new units being constructed in the country. At the peak of construction, this vital project will employ up to 5,000 on-site. These positions will include building tradespeople, engineers, field supervisors, construction and project managers, quality assurance professionals, safety professionals, procurement, subcontract specialists and many others. 


This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.  This posting is for a short term position. 


Role Overview:

This position serves as a Tagging Authority / Field Engineer to administer lockout tagout (LOTO) program during the Construction phase of a Nuclear Power Plant.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide input and support to the Construction, Operations and Commissioning teams, in electrical isolations and testing procedures.  

- Identify isolation boundaries based on work scope, develop LOTO permits, write LOTO tags, markup engineering drawings, de-energize equipment, de-pressurize systems and implement proper LOTO devices to ensure work can be performed safely.

- Administer and manage the LOTO with strict enforcement and record keeping.

- Perform other duties as directed in support of project activities.

- Conduct Audits and Reports for Component Turnovers.

- Work hours as required, including night-shift, overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary to support the project.


Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of relevant experience, OR in lieu of degree 12 years of relevant experience.

- 5 years of previous LOTO or equivalent program administration experience in a utility scale power generation or chemical manufacturing plant.

- Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and site walk downs which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site,climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.

- Must possess the legal right to work in the US without sponsorship.


Minimum Qualifications

- Must be familiar with standard industrial engineering practices and safety requirements

- Must be proficient in reading and understanding engineering drawings.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to use database programs.

- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Must be able to interact professionally with Owner, Contract and Construction personnel.

- Must be able to walk at least 5 miles per day over uneven and rocky terrain in all weather conditions and be able to climb vertical ladders and stairs up to 100' in combined height multiple times per day to access project equipment.

- Must hold a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation to and from the job site parking area.


Additional Information

Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). 

- Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
