Job Summary:
The Program Coordinator serves as the central day‑to‑day coordinator for Bechtel’s partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), supporting the planning, execution, and integration of suicide prevention and mental health initiatives across Bechtel’s operations and external industry engagements. Working closely with Bechtel’s Safety and Construction leaders, the Bechtel Group Foundation, and counterparts at AFSP and across the industry, this role ensures that AFSP partnership commitments translate into coordinated action, measurable impact, and sustained momentum.
The role is responsible for guiding partnership workflows, aligning internal stakeholders, supporting governance bodies such as the external CEO Advisory Council and its working groups, and coordinating communications, programming, and reporting. The Program Coordinator acts as the connective tissue between strategy and execution—tracking commitments, surfacing risks, preparing materials for leadership engagement, and ensuring follow‑through across multiple workstreams.
This position reports to the Chief of Staff to the Chairman & CEO in Bechtel’s Executive Office. The position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-AM3
Major Responsibilities:
- Manage day‑to‑day coordination with AFSP’s project lead counterpart, executing partnership activities, maintaining action plans, timelines, and clear accountability across workstreams.
- Work collaboratively within Bechtel on delivery of joint initiatives and campaigns related to the AFSP partnership, ensuring readiness, sequencing, and alignment across communications, programming, and operations.
- Prepare materials for senior‑level engagement, including agendas, briefings, decision memos, and follow‑up summaries for governance forums and leadership interactions.
- Track commitments, milestones, and dependencies across internal and external parties; proactively flag risks, delays, or misalignment and drive resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of partnership activities, decisions, metrics, and outputs to support reporting, continuity, and institutional knowledge.
- Support measurement and reporting by consolidating inputs, validating data, and translating progress into concise leadership‑ready updates.
- Coordinate logistics and preparation for Bechtel leadership participation in partnership‑related meetings, events, and industry engagements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree
- Experience in and knowledge of the construction industry highly preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong organizational judgment, comfort operating across internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to manage complex, multi‑party initiatives with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and accountability.
- Familiarity with corporate operating environments, including working with senior leadership, functional teams, and external partners.
- Strong stakeholder coordination skills, including the ability to work collaboratively across functions without direct authority.
- Ability to maintain structure, momentum, and follow‑through in long‑running, multi‑party initiatives.
- Fluency in operating between the private and social/non-profit sectors a plus.
