Job Summary:
As the Finance Innovation Manager at Bechtel, you will lead the transformation of our financial operations through rigorous process improvement and the adoption and integration of digital technologies. Your role is pivotal in driving efficiency, generating greater data driven insights regarding our business, and enhancing risk management and compliance across the global finance organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for digital innovation, develop and implement new systems and business processes, and ensure the continuous improvement of our financial operations. This role will report to the Bechtel Group Chief Financial Officer.
Major Responsibilities:
- Business Case Development: Lead or support the business case development in pitching the adoption and impact of implementing leading edge and proven technologies in transforming the finance function at Bechtel.
- Digital Transformation Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive digital innovation strategy for the finance department that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
- Process Improvement: Analyze existing financial processes and systems to identify areas for process improvement, automation and digital enhancement. Design and implement streamlined workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Data Analytics: Utilize advanced data analytics tools to provide actionable insights, support decision-making, improve decision making, and drive financial performance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the finance leadership team, GBU CFOs, IS&T, innovation function, service organizations, project teams and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of process improvement and digital solutions and to promote a culture of innovation.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of innovation initiatives and report on progress to senior management.
- Project Management: Oversee innovation projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Technology Implementation: Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of advanced financial technologies such as AI, machine learning, blockchain, robotic process automation (RPA), and others.
- Training and Development: Develop training programs in cooperation with our key vendors and other resources to upskill the finance team on new digital tools and technologies.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all digital innovations comply with relevant regulations and standards (including information security requirements) and implement robust risk management practices.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting or a related field. A master’s degree, doctorate or other relevant professional certifications is preferred. Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in innovation, management consulting or a similar financial and transformation role.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Background in information systems and finance, with a strong focus on digital innovation and technology implementation. Experience in a leadership role and delivering multiple, varied transformation projects in different operating environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and emerging digital technologies (e.g., AI, RPA, blockchain, mobile).
- Knowledge of or experience in finance, accounting, financial planning and analysis, economics or other similar fields preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and to bridge effectively across highly varied operational and end market business units.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- A passion and intellectual curiosity for innovation and staying current with emerging trends and technologies in finance and digital transformation. A strong desire to engage with and learn from third parties outside the company is a positive. Curiosity and a “see something, say something” attitude are highly desired.
