Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come.
This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires have begun their careers at Bechtel as a summer intern.
Mechanical Engineering interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide support to the design of electrical power systems and equipment for a variety of industry projects.

Major Responsibilities:
Mechanical Engineering interns may be responsible for:
- Supporting preparations of calculations including but not limited to line sizing, pump sizing, valve sizing, and equipment sizing.
- Supporting preparations of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) or ventilation and instrumentation diagrams (V&IDs).
- Supporting development of procurement deliverables such as engineering specifications, material requisitions, and data sheets.
- Supporting the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Reviewing vendor submittals.
- Resolving technical issues related to the discipline including any required interface with other disciplines, functions, vendors, and/or client.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree program in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Completed at least one year of studies in one of the above degrees.
- Active student status, in a strong academic standing.
- Strong bilingual proficiency (written and verbal) in English and Polish.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and able to use automation tools effectively.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adaptability and flexibility.
