Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage the organization and direction of project construction activities and oversee total construction activities including work performed by subcontractors and direct hire craft professionals. Supervision of discipline specific construction licensed professionals and field engineers. Your daily job duties will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget, and clients are satisfied.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinates construction activities including actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers.
- Client of an entry in the construction diary regarding the suspension of construction works due to their performance contrary to the design requirements and implementation of recommendations are entered into the construction diary.
- Reporting to the Client for inspection or acceptance of completed works that will be covered or inaccessible and ensuring that the tests and checks of installations, technical devices and equipment required by law or agreed in the contract are carried out before the building is reported for acceptance
- Preparation of as-built documentation
- Notification of the building for acceptance with an appropriate entry in the construction journal and participation in the acceptance activities and ensuring the removal of the defects found, as well as providing the Client with required notification
- Supervision and management of discipline construction licensed professionals providing oversight and management of specialized work
- Responsible for implementation of Bechtel’s Zero Accident safety program
- Establishes and implements construction schedules, methods, manning charts, material, and equipment requirements.
- Participation in the creation of plans and establishes procedures to ensure all construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
- Maintains effective client relationship and is the contact for client's communication with the field activities.
- Maintains an effective relation with other functional departments.
- Participation in developing, implementation and administration of a job-site security plan and coordination the activities with corporate Security department.
- Directs the overall project safety programs and ensures strict adherence to Providence specific requirements and Polish law and safety codes.
- Ensures required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the affected work at site.
- Is responsible and accountable for construction license reporting to include construction Logbook entries and required notifications for permit closure
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must be a registered chartered engineer (Construction License) for management of construction works.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Ability to work in balance working time system and/or night if needed.
• Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience in construction area.
• Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of all disciplines, construction technologies and jobsite management.
• Knowledge of the phases of project scoping, planning, procurement of materials using Engineering Inspection Records, Field Material Requisitions/Material Withdrawal Requests and execution relating to the construction of multi-discipline works. Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of Zero Accident Philosophy or equivalent. Experience managing both subcontracted and self-performed/direct hire labor construction projects. Experience in executing various contracting strategies to include Lum Sum Turnkey (LSTK), Cost Plus, Time and Material, Unit Rate type contracts.
• Thorough knowledge of the content and implementation of Labor Management Plans. Construction experience managing projects of $120M or greater.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior Nuclear/EPC construction experience as a Construction Manager.
• Prior experience with commercial Nuclear Power projects or Government Nuclear Facilities.
• Prior international experience in establishment of training programs/camp and key infrastructure for camp operations.
• Prior experience as assigned licensed/chartered registered site construction manager in Poland or EU responsible for implementing permit requirements, construction logbook and permit closure.
