Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Sanitary Engineer to join our team in Poland, responsible for the design and coordination of sanitary installations (inside buildings) and utility networks (yard pipework) across industrial and administration facilities. This position will be part of the Mechanical group.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design of potable water, sanitary and industrial wastewater systems originating work products such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Calculations (Hydraulic Line Sizing, Design Pressure, Design Temperature, Pipe Class selection), Equipment Specifications and Data Sheets  
  • Management of rainwater drainage from rooftops
  • Support in planning and coordinating sanitary networks (yard pipework) 
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​ 
  • Participates in the design, development and modification of components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​ 
  • Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines​ 
  • Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​ 
  • Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals 
  • Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards​ 
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Environmental Engineering with a Specialization in Sanitary Systems with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • National license to design and supervise sanitary installations in Poland

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•    Must be authorised to live and work in Poland without sponsorship
•    Proven experience in designing potable water, storm drainage, roof drainage, and wastewater systems
•    Proven experience in planning and coordinating external networks in compliance with Polish technical standards and regulations
•    Familiarity with PZT (land development plans) and coordination with CSA Teams
•    Ability to work with 3D models, land maps, and Polish sanitary codes and European Standards
•    Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Polish language documents
•    Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills
•    Experience with Microsoft Office programs and other engineering software

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•    Prior work experience on a large-scale project and demonstrated flexibility in work assignments.
