Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

The Poland AP1000 Project consist of multiple critical systems and applications that are fundamental for the successful execution of this one of kind project for Poland. Major Responsibilities:
• Data Science: Cleanse and analyse datasets to identify trends, patterns, and relationships. Develop actionable insights for senior leadership, project managers, and key stakeholders using advanced data mining techniques.
• Data Engineering: Contributing to solutions and software to capture, manage, store, and utilize data from various sources.
• Data Modelling: Develop and deploy techniques to analyse data and make predictions about future events using machine learning and statistical analysis.
• Data Integrity: Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, reliability, and security to support reliable decision-making.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations. Present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Automation & Integration: Implement tools and processes to automate data collection, cleansing, and analysis. Ensure seamless data integration across all phases of project execution.
• Data Governance: Uphold data security protocols and maintain high standards for data quality and privacy.
• Learning & Development: Stay current with new tools, technologies, and approaches in data analytics and science.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data/Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a data engineer, data scientist, or data analyst, including model development and deployment for predictive decision-making, and experience with data collection, cleansing, analytics, and transformation.
- At least 2 years working with AI, cloud, or related technology. Familiarity with big data frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and the ability to design, deploy, and maintain automated pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence without authority. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Flexibility to work across time zones.
- Must meet nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment, education, and travel.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong expertise in data engineering and analytics, with experience in digital execution strategy and digital delivery (exposure to Engineering or Construction fields preferred).
- Ability to leverage AI, cloud, and emerging technologies to maximize efficiencies in nuclear project delivery.
- Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve data-related challenges and ensure smooth integration.
- Self-motivated with outstanding interpersonal skills; able to work independently without direct day-to-day oversight.
- Project management skills with the ability to deliver within scope and budget, manage priorities, and adapt to evolving responsibilities.
- Knowledge of risk mitigation techniques and cybersecurity measures to protect project-related information.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced degree (Masters or higher) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years’ experience with:
- Python (high proficiency), with operational knowledge of R, JavaScript, Perl, Scala
- Machine learning libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, etc)
- Big data frameworks (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
- Automating data collection, cleansing, and analysis
- Databases (MS SQL Server, Graph/neo4j, Oracle)
- Microsoft PowerApps and Power BI
- Experience with Agile project management techniques and strong time-management skills.
- Knowledge of risk mitigation techniques and cybersecurity measures for project-related information.
