Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Level I

  • PFS Tier II - most applicable to Area Superintendents and PFSs who are responsible for a very large vertical package or scope of work on large projects (>$1B and/or >1500 craft) of high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement. 
  • Supervises all Superintendents and direct hire craft and administers project work rules. 
  • Supervises Subcontract Coordinators (SCs / STRs) Coordinating subcontract activities. 
  • Establishes and ensures compliance with project procedures necessary to perform construction in accordance with project technical requirements 
  • Implements the project controls tools to assure that direct hire work performed is within budget and schedule. 
  • Sets and meets cost and schedule targets. 
  • Forecasts labor unit rates, field distributables, and construction equipment. 
  • Ensures the jobsite field work organization is comprised of qualified and knowledgeable personnel and ensures effective personnel utilization. 
  • Implements Project ES&H program 
  • Assists in the Coordination of engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals. 
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.  

Level II

  • PFS Tier III - most applicable to General Superintendents and PFSs who are responsible for a very large vertical package or scope of work on large projects (>$2B and/or >3,000 craft) of high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement. 
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals. 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level I

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience​

Level II

  •  Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 18+ years of relevant experience or 22+ years of relevant work experience​

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as IBC, SMACNA, ASME, NFPA, NEC, ACI, ASCE, or its European equivalents.
  • Must be highly proficient in work process development and implementation.
  • Must be highly proficient in planning breakdown structure for and development of construction work packages.
  • Must be proficient in cost and schedule analysis.
  • Must be proficient in subcontract administration.
  • Must have knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities, of all engineering disciplines, and jobsite management.
  • Must have direct hire execution experience on projects of US$300M or greater. 
  • Prior experience with Nuclear Power plants.
  • Prior EU construction experience as a Project Field Engineer Manager or Construction Field Engineer Manager.
  • Prior Earned Value Management experience and training. Knowledge of all phases of project scoping, planning, and execution relating to the construction of multi-discipline works.
