Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Position Summary:

Duties will include taking a lead role in ensuring all financial tax activities are managed in accordance with internal and external (statutory/client) requirements. This will include such items as the preparation of Statutory Accounts, ongoing submission of VAT reports and managing the different statutory obligations of the entity with regards to any direct and indirect tax regime in accordance with the Polish statutory framework.

 

The candidate will be working closely with the accounting team and the associated operations teams which include entity accounts payable, client billing, tax reporting, payroll, treasury coordination, audit coordination and other duties as assigned. The candidate will implement and maintain appropriate work processes to ensure compliance with all client requirements and Bechtel procedures to provide early identification of any financial issues which may impact the project’s statutory obligations.

 

The candidate will foster teamwork and effective working relationships between the Finance team and other internal and external organizations. The candidate will provide ongoing communication to functional management, GBU / Project Management, Country Controller, and external third-party accounting providers in connection with status of statutory requirements and work closely with third party providers in ensuring the submittal of reports, returns and correspondence with governing authorities of the accounts in a timely fashion.

 

The candidate must have the ability to maintain confidentiality with a strong ethical behaviour in workplace practices, as well as the ability to interface with senior site Bechtel and customer management, along with a customer-service orientation and a demonstrated professional demeanour, communication style, flexibility, and commitment to meeting deadlines.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Finance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior international construction project experience.
  • Prior experience working with statutory account preparation.
  • Prior experience with local direct and indirect tax regimes and appropriate returns.
  • Ability to analyse financial statements and recognize symptoms of problems.
  • Competency with Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Leadership ability to operate in a matrix organization.
  • Fluency in English both written and spoken.
