Project Overview:

Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, and construction for a 218MWac / 271MWdc utility-scale solar photovoltaic (“PV”) generating plant to be located in Victoria, TX, USA.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and support material planning and/or material coordination for a project. Planning involves providing work process and system expertise during the early project stages. Coordination will include communicating material availability, accuracy, and timeliness to the correct location. Your team will ensure the location receives the required materials to complete the project. #LI-VB1

 

Major Responsibilities:

Material Coordination 

  • Performs material coordination activities at a jobsite within material discipline of responsibility to ensure the accurate reporting of material and equipment work package statuses for installation 
  • Monitors planned inventory control mechanisms, such as min-max and bag-and-tag and uses Digital Supply Chain tools 
  • Continuously performs priority allocations to ensure material availability well in advance of installation requirements 
  • Coordinates material availability in support of design revisions, rework, contingency or work-around plans 
  • Participates in Construction and/or Subcontractor planning meetings to be fully aware of changes in installation plans and priorities 
  • Coordinates with warehouse personnel for materials to be issued direct to the installation area, as opposed to being controlled in storage 
  • Coordinates the constructability look ahead meetings 
  • Prepares the site constructability reports as inclusive of 30, 60, and 90-day lookaheads 

Material Planning 

  • Verifies that material requisitions clearly identify required pay items and reflect a level of detail in which materials will be shipped and identified for storage and control prior to distribution to Construction for installation 
  • Coordinates material planning activities for a material discipline area of responsibility 
  • Maintains direct working relationship with Project Controls, Discipline Engineers, Supply Chain, Automation Support and/or Construction Coordinator to ensure that construction personnel are provided with materials to support the completion of the construction work 
  • Monitors Engineering and Supply Chain deliverable schedules to meet the construction schedule 
  • Monitors materials components aspects of the project Automation Plan related data transfers between the functional groups with respect to assigned discipline area of responsibility 

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Intermediate knowledge of Field Engineering disciplines, work processes, and the deliverables produced.
  • Intermediate knowledge of inputting requisitions, receipt, storage, and issue of materials into procurement software.
  • Experience with Scheduling of deliveries through OTR (or similar automation tool) and managing logistics for all site deliveries.
  • Knowledge of vendor, fabricator, contractor, Customer and how outside data systems interact with procurement automation tools, knowledge of Bechtel’s DSCS is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with work packaging, pre-buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
  • Basic skill in working with and communicating effectively with supervisors of other project functional groups, primarily Subcontractors/Vendors, Engineering, Construction, and Project Management.
