Project Overview:
Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.
A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:
The Site Automation Specialist supports the deployment, configuration, and sustainment of project digital delivery and field technology systems. This role provides hands-on technical support across networks, communications systems, end-user devices, and digital delivery platforms essential to safe and efficient project execution.
The Site Automation Specialist works closely with project and site stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant technology services across the jobsite. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in dynamic field environments.
This role is responsible for monitoring deployed assets, resolving technical issues, supporting installation and configuration activities, and ensuring that field personnel have the connectivity, tools, and systems required to execute work safely and efficiently. The position supports the implementation of project digital delivery strategies under the direction of the Project Information Manager (PIM) and I&D leadership. #LI-TN1
Major Responsibilities:
• Support the deployment, configuration, and sustainment of site automation, networking, and digital delivery systems in alignment with project requirements.
• Provide technical expertise for field technology platforms including networks, communications systems, end-user devices, and digital delivery hardware.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across multiple technology domains, escalating to higher-level support teams when required.
• Assist with the setup and integration of digital delivery platforms in the field.
• Implement IT hardware, software, and network infrastructure in accordance with corporate, GBU, and project standards and security requirements.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external subcontractors to ensure proper installation, configuration, and maintenance of field technology systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation including configuration records, asset inventories, and support tickets.
• Participate in evaluations of new software, upgrades, enhancements, and security patches to support project digital delivery needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness of site automation and field technology processes.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong proficiency in PC and mobile environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues across multiple operating systems and device types.
• Working knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, network segmentation, and basic cybersecurity practices.
• Hands-on experience with fiber optics including testing, troubleshooting, and cable termination.
• Experience supporting field communications systems (UHF/VHF radios, microwave, VSAT, DSL).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues using standard tools and procedures.
• Ability to work independently with limited oversight in dynamic field conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
