Project Overview:

Louisiana LNG (LALNG) is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility (the Facility) on the west bank of the Calcasieu River near Carlyss, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The Facility will include five (5) liquefaction plants capable of producing up to max. 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG for export. The project will also include three (3) full containment LNG tanks and three (3) jetties that will support LNG carriers.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel’s existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements. This is an agency hired role; candidate in this role will be deployed on fixed term contracts through approved employment agencies. The Workface Planner Piping (hereafter called WFP) will be assigned to Bechtel’s Vadodara office and responsible to prepare Installation Work Packages (IWPs), Material Take-offs (MTO) & Test Work Packages (TWPs) for above ground and underground piping of all types on the project in the United States of America. WFP will be also responsible to support office construction activities, such constructability reviews, ensuring safety in design, providing construction’s input to engineering and procurement teams that improves Total Installed Cost (TIC) on the projects.

Major Responsibilities:

Project 

  • Provides Construction recommendations on multiple disciplines 
  • Coordinates with all team members in generating and developing approved Constructability ideas and plans.   
  • Initiates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.   
  • Prepares and may lead Constructability awareness training 
  • Contributes to construction related design decisions by providing Construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence.  

Non-Project 

  • Reviews and delivers Constructability awareness training and/or enterprise or project supervisory and technical training.  
  • Maintains/develops enterprise-wide processes and procedures 
  • Ensures effective implementation of Quality Management System 
  • Promotes development of enterprise applications  
  • Contributes to proposal efforts

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or international equivalent) and minimum 10 years of experience on large EPC projects, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 5 years international jobsite experience at overseas location is Engineer or Construction Engineer on large OG&C, Petrochemical or major process industry projects is essential.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Highly knowledgeable and skilled in installation of piping, piping bulks of all types and sizes, through hands on field supervision experience, field engineering experience on Oil & Gas, Petrochemical projects.
  • Knowledge and skills of conducting various pipe tests at the jobsite such as pneumatics test, hydro test, air blows, chemical cleaning and other construction testing activities.
  • Knowledge of preparing list and sketches of temporary pipe test materials, testing equipment, other construction aids.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3/B31.1
  • Shall have an experience or an understanding of preparation of installation work packages and piping test packages, stored energy calculations.
  • Proficient in reading P&IDs, isometrics and other piping drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Proficient MS Office applications and able to use 3D Model and other advance tools used in the industry
  • Excellent communications skills
