Job Summary:
Performs expediting activities on a project, in a support office, or at a jobsite in accordance with Project Procurement and Functional Expediting Procedures. Ensures the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs. May at times be responsible for supervision, direction and monitoring of Expediting Specialists. Provides assistance to the Expediting Supervisor for the input and assessment of project job-hour and monetary budgets.

- Reports to and receives operational direction from the project Expediting Supervisor.
- Receives functional guidance from the Expediting Manager.
Supervision Exercised:
- May at times provide work direction and supervision for Expediting Specialists
Contacts:
- Coordinates expediting activities with project management, project procurement, engineering, construction, startup, planning and scheduling, area expediting, and others assigned to the project team.
- Maintains relationships with suppliers at operational levels to monitor the progress of material and equipment orders.
- Coordinates with area expediting personnel assigned to perform project visits.
Major Responsibilities:
- Plans, staffs, and budgets expediting operations; monitors job-hours and costs
- Represents Expediting in project meetings and distributes workload to expeditors
- Reviews expediting assignments and reports for accuracy and completeness
- Trains and orients new expediting personnel; provides on-the-job guidance
- Contacts suppliers for engineering data, material acquisition, and shipment follow-up
- Evaluates supplier schedules and progress; compiles critical items and status reports
- Coordinates priorities and delivery dates with planning, scheduling, and construction
- Expedites engineering reviews and approvals of supplier data
- Maintains expediting files, follow-up systems, and updates procurement systems
- Performs sub-supplier expediting and works with supplier quality representatives
- Participates in pre/post-award meetings; coordinates shipping and customs clearance
- Verifies material receipt and assists in tracing missing items
- Develops project-specific expediting procedures and prepares supplier evaluations
- At jobsite: liaises with office expediting staff, attends construction meetings, and ensures timely material flow
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering from a reputed University.
- Post-graduate specialization in Supply Chain Management preferred. 10+ years of industry experience including minimum 5 years in expediting functions.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough understanding of equipment and material fabrication steps and methods.
- Proficient in interpreting schedules to ensure they are realistic, that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
- Proficiency in monitoring supplier performance, back-charge procedures and the resolution of claims and disputes.
- Good oral and written communication skills regarding technical and production matters with both project and supplier personnel.
- Good knowledge of general business practices and administrative procedures.
- Proficient in organizing tasks for completion by an agreed deadline.
- Knows how to deal professionally with suppliers and project personnel.
- Capable of providing early warning to the Project Management of supplier deficiencies or schedule slippage.
- Thorough understanding of Logistics and Supplier Quality processes.
- Familiar with how to develop expediting budgets.
- Familiar with developing and tracking metrics
