Ujina Growth Project:
The mining area is located 185 km southeast of Iquique, at 4,400 meters above sea level, in Tarapacá Region. The main objective of Doña Inés de Collahuasi’s project is to increase the concentrator’s throughput capacity from an average of 170 ktpd to 210 ktpd. Currently, the awarded service corresponds to the execution of Package PG1 - the first of three packages contemplated for this project - which involves the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) of six flotation cells, and on-site support during the construction phase. Service for package PG1, which began on August 1, 2023, is a continuation of the study phase (FEL3) and is expected to be completed in February 2025.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will work with the project team to prepare schedule data in support of project implementation. You will apply established unit job hour and pricing data, perform schedule integrations, prepare work logic, identify restraints and potential impacts, develop recovery plans, and evaluate subcontractor schedules for improvements. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects stay on track and on time.
Major Responsibilities:
- Reviewing design scope criteria and quantities. Performing in-depth analysis to identify project schedule impacts and coordinating with the project to develop additional estimating bases when information is incomplete.
- Reviewing Contractor Master Schedule to ensure it will meet client expectations. Identifying schedule risks and recommending mitigation and action plans to project management.
- Making recommendations to the client on action plans to mitigate schedule risks and schedule GAP analysis.
- Contributing the maintenance, improvement, integration and major updates of the Client Development and Execution of main schedule.
- Responsible for coordinating the work scope for all entities into the total project plan. Performing reviews of project scope in schedules includes establishing the conceptual scope of schedule studies.
- Establishing milestones for the total project or major portions of the project. Reviewing project work activities to ensure support of project milestones. Coordinating the timely, systematic, and complete acquisition of scope definition and related data.
- Examining the work logic of organizations and units to ensure schedules support the project timeline. Planning, coordinating, and establishing quantification levels based on project goals and scope and assigns reference jobs for data sources or quantity reconciliation.
- Planning, organizing, and overseeing resource loading and schedule levelling. Coordinating the development of bulk commodity release and installation curves, ensuring integration of manpower requirements for each discipline or specialty in alignment with overall project objectives. Determining quantities and staffing levels to support project needs and scheduling strategies.
- Collecting schedule details from all disciplines and spots constraints impacting the overall project timeline. Coordinating with departments to clarify schedule requirements, integrating all activities, and identifying issues arising from interdisciplinary limitations or interfaces.
- Verifying consistency with previous reports to maintain compatibility. Issuing reports as required by Bechtel management. Compiling, summarizing, updating, and maintaining historical schedule data. Monitoring and reporting on the critical path and overall schedule performance of the project. Preparing and presenting the Schedule Impact Report. Leading the development and review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluating the resources and costs necessary to implement these plans.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Project Controls with an emphasis on planning and scheduling; or 13 years professional experience in lieu of degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.
- Advanced Primavera P6 experience required.
- Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications. Advanced knowledge of excel to produce well designed graphs, charts, and reports to communicate with key stakeholders.
- Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
- Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
