Project Overview:

Bechtel Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); data center, electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); and life sciences markets.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage direct reports and lead interdisciplinary teams to establish construction methods and support activities. You will oversee the construction process, review plans and specifications for costs and constructability, manage corporate processes and procedures, and lead proposal preparation. Your recommendations for studies, lessons learned, project assessments, and new methods will optimize completion of project construction activities. #LI-ME1

Major Responsibilities:

Chief Construction Engineer 

  • Provides consultation, technical guidance and direction to Construction and other support functions 
  • Manages the successful completion of activities related to the construction of assigned projects 
  • Assists in development of standard construction method   
  • Oversees the review of standard plans and specifications for constructability 
  • Reviews and evaluates new methods and concepts  

Construction Operations Manager 

  • Provides consultation, technical guidance and direction to Construction and other support functions 
  • Leads in proposal preparation 
  • Manages the successful completion of activities related to the construction of assigned projects 
  • Reviews construction estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and costs for acceptability 
  • Assists in development of standard construction method   

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience
     

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    Field execution leadership — drives safety, schedule, cost, quality, and turnover readiness simultaneously; makes fast, high-consequence decisions in a highly compressed delivery environment.
•    Multi-discipline and systems integration — aligns civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and commissioning activities into a single executable plan; resolves cross-functional conflicts before they impact startup or schedule.
•    Planning, readiness, and constraint management — leads look-ahead planning, AWP/IWPs, material readiness, access management, and workface planning to maintain uninterrupted production and turnover flow.
•    Energization, turnover, and startup focus — understands critical path through electrical distribution, mechanical systems, integrated systems testing, and phased turnover; drives completion by system, not just by area.
•    Performance, risk, and stakeholder management — proactively manages productivity, commissioning risks, vendor dependencies, utility interfaces, and client priorities while maintaining alignment across all project stakeholders.
