Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) Project Manager


Bechtel is seeking a specialized senior project manager to lead a mega rail system project in Canada. The delivery contractor is expected to be the primary source of sound professional oversight of project delivery, the client’s compliance with regulatory and stakeholder requirements, procurement, risk management, and construction expertise and judgment in all phases of the Project works.


The RSSOM Project Manager Provides overall supervision and project management leadership during the design-build full cycle of the project. Primarily this is focused on one of the three main multi-billion-dollar packages on the project with the scope of Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Maintain (DBFOM) for rolling stock and systems. This will require a level of integration management between the other design-build-finance packages to deliver an operational railway to the end-user.


Job Responsibilities

·      Delivering assigned project to the budget, schedule and quality standards;

·      Provides overall supervision and project management leadership during the design-build full-cycle phase;

·      Ensure project schedules are developed and implemented so that deliverables are provided in a timely and cost-effective manner to all stakeholders;

·      Support and lead (as required) at meetings convened by the Sponsors with the Contractor to review project work schedule;

·      Track, monitor and communicate performance against project requirements, quality measures, milestones and KPIs;

·      Review status reports from project teams/vendors and address issues with program or portfolio impacts as appropriate;

·      Implement approved processes and procedures to ensure successful execution of projects.


Job Qualification

·      Minimum twelve (12) years experience in the delivery of large Rail infrastructure projects of $500M+ value in construction focused roles;

·      Professional Degree in engineering or equivalent;​​​​​​

·      Experience in rollingstock, testing & commission, OCS, track & power systems.

·      Experience in Construction project management, estimating, scheduling and QA/QC;

·      Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
