Project Overview:

Bechtel Infrastructure, along with key sub-vendors Bantrel and Comtech, has been appointed the Delivery Partner within an integrated team with the customer, Metrolinx, for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project and will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for a Subway Project in Toronto, Ontario.  The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by two key PPP Contractors and multiple advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors and two large Progressive Design Build Contracts.  The scope includes both managing the Works associated with the program and with the individual construction projects.   

Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking an experienced Risk lead to lead a mega rail system project in Canada, Ontario Line. The contractor is expected to be the primary source of sound professional oversight of project delivery, the client’s compliance with regulatory and stakeholder requirements, procurement, risk management and construction expertise and judgement in all phases of the Project works.#LI-JL1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implement an effective and integrated system of risk management strategy: plan, processes, procedures, work instructions, etc. in line with international best practices and standards.
  • Maintain Risk and Opportunities statistics, monitor and report on Risk Management system effectiveness at project level.
  • Support and monitor the implementation of the Risk function across Projects.
  • Facilitate and support risk and opportunity workshops across the Portfolio as requested by the Project Controls Director.
  • Facilitate risk workshops and advise on schedule/cost risk analysis.
  • Consolidate risks from Project level to Program & Portfolio level for overall review & reporting.
  • Report Risk Metrics and graphical displays including dashboards to Project Management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering, Construction or Management  (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​. Masters’ Degree in Engineering, Construction or Management (preferred) 
  • Professional experience in project controls with emphasis on risk management. 
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in risk management. 
  • Experience with the holistic approach of risk management on Portfolio and/or Program level.
  • Experience and knowledge of all discipline’s risks during all Project stages from feasibility till handover e.g. procurement/contractual, QHSE, reputational Risks, etc.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of International Risk Standards e.g. ISO31000, PMBok, COSO, etc and associated standards e.g. ISO 9001, ISO45001, ISO14000, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills with multiple levels of Management
  • Team player with ability to lead a multinational, multi-dimensional organization
  • English proficiency High level of energy
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software for risk management/analysis programs.
  • Excellent English language communication skills.
