Project Overview:
Bechtel is appointed as the Delivery Partner, supporting our customer Metrolinx as part of an integrated team, to help deliver the signature Ontario Line Subway Project, a transformational transit project for the Greater Toronto Area. The multi-billion-dollar project scope includes the design, build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by two Public/Private Partnership (P3) Contractors, two Progressive Design Build Contractors and multiple advanced/early works contractors.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:
Performs the duties of a lead engineer for the project, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines and activities.
Leadership/Supervision
• Supervises and provides direction to the team of field specialists.
• Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
• Supervises a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
Technical
• Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
• Manages interfaces with adjacent projects and key stakeholders.
• Supervises reviews of Contractor submittals.
• Manages the handover process of completed construction to the rail operator.
Material Management
• Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.
Quantities
• Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
Safety / Quality Control
• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
• Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
• Ensures implementation of the Project Quality Management System.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Required bachelor's degree(or equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
• Experience on major, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Experience in executing construction activities within or directly adjacent to a live operational railway is considered advantageous.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Technical knowledge and experience of relevant construction methods and systems including: Bridge construction, track and signaling works, earthworks and drainage and retaining wall construction. Construction works within and adjacent to public right of way in city environment. Utility clearance/ diversion.
• Has knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
• Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the relevant Environmental, Health and Safety regulations as they relate to area of responsibility.
• Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
