Project Overview:
Bechtel is among the most respected engineering, project management, and construction companies in the world. Bechtel operates through five global business units that specialize in Infrastructure; Mining and Metals; Nuclear, Security and Environmental; Manufacturing and Technology; and Energy. Today, our colleague's team with customers, partners, and suppliers on diverse projects in nearly 40 countries.
Bechtel Infrastructure will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for the Ontario Line Project in Toronto, Ontario. The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by two key PPP Contractors (Project Cos) and other Contractors for the balance of the scope. The project interfaces with both the City of Toronto (COT) and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Bechtel form a key component of the overall Integrated Project Delivery team (comprising the customer, Metrolinx; the Technical Advisor, and Bechtel as the Delivery Partner).
Job Summary:
The BIM/GIS Solutions Lead is responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting Autodesk and ArcGIS‑based solutions for the Ontario Line project, with a strong emphasis on ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and web‑ and mobile‑based GIS applications, and GeoBIM-enabled workflows.
The role focuses on applying BIM and GIS technology to support construction delivery, field workflows, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, and emerging digital twin use-cases, while working collaboratively with BIM, construction, project controls, and IT teams. #LI-KL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead delivery and deployment of Ontario Line Projectwide GIS solutions (ArcGIS Online) to support construction delivery, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Configure and manage GIS information containers (web maps, dashboards, and applications), ensuring structured information, controlled access, and traceability consistent with project’s information standards.
- Enable GeoBIM information integration by linking GIS and BIM data sources, providing spatially enabled access to design, model attributes, and issue information managed through the CDE and connected platforms.
- Support enablement of digital twin use cases by integrating GIS, BIM, and construction data to improve situational awareness, coordination, progress monitoring, and asset information context across the delivery lifecycle.
- Deploy and support mobile and field GIS workflows for standardized field data capture, validation, and controlled integration of verified information into the Ontario Line GIS Hub environment.
- Manage quality of spatial information through consistent georeferencing, coordinate systems, schemas, and metadata, supporting reliable information exchange between GIS, BIM, CAD, and the other project systems.
- Support data integrations between GIS platforms, spatial databases, reporting tools, and other project systems to enable controlled information sharing, reuse, and reporting.
- Collaborate with project teams to translate delivery needs into compliant, practical BIM, GIS and GeoBIM solutions aligned with agreed information workflows.
- Contribute to information management documentation, solution demonstrations, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting consistent digital delivery and information management practices
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, with 8–13 years of experience in project delivery and 5+ years of professional experience using Autodesk, ESRI technologies, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience delivering web‑based and mobile GIS solutions in a project or operational environment.
- Strong hands‑on experience with ArcGIS Online configuration and administration.
- Experience configuring Esri mobile applications, including Field Maps and Survey123.
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS Arcade.
- Familiarity with Python and/or JavaScript for GIS automation and customization.
- Understanding of enterprise GIS data management, databases, web services, and cloud‑based GIS environments.
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650 information management principles and structured information delivery on major infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain GIS and GeoBIM solutions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Organized, solution‑focused, and comfortable working in a complex project delivery environment.
- Experience delivering integrated BIM & GIS solutions on major rail, transit, or construction programs.
- Experience supporting Autodesk and ArcGIS GeoBIM workflows integrating GIS with Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Experience contributing to digital delivery or digital twin initiatives through GISbased integration and visualization.
- Understanding of project workflows from design, estimation, construction administration, and coordination.
