Job Summary:
The Lead Piping Field Engineer reports to the Area Field Engineer/Project Field Engineer and is responsible for the technical oversight of all Piping activities on the project. The selected applicant shall provide technical direction the Piping FE group , as well as, to the direct hire and subcontractor work force as well as supervision. The Lead Piping Field Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the Piping installation related work. #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
• Must have experience with construction in all areas of piping installation.
• Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required
• Complete training requirements assigned.
• Preparation of pipe installation work packages
• Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation.
• Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all piping quantities.
• Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
• Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issue.
• Assist superintendents and subcontractors in constructability and quality issues.
• Work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
• Prepare material requisitions, coordinate, and review vendor drawings.
• Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the projects schedule.
• Interpret design drawings.
• Complete piping material take-offs.
• Assure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection.
• Material receipt inspections as required.
• Reviews specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data.
• Assist with preparation of construction estimates.
• Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• University/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10-13 years field piping engineering experience is desired, or 14-18 years of relevant experience,.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred,
• Contract management experience,
• Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred,
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
• Knowledge of multiple technical engineering disciplines relating to the construction of industrial projects.
• Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
• Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
• Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
• Knowledge of current industry design standards.
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Prior US Mega-Project direct hire construction experience
