Project Overview:

Senimdi Kurylys LLP, a joint venture between Bechtel and Enka; and was awarded the contract for the Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation installation works for the Third Generation Project (3GP) in May 2018.  Tengizchevroil (TCO) is executing a major expansion of capacity at its existing Facilities at Tengiz and Korolev oilfields in Western Kazakhstan through the development of Future Growth Project (FGP) / Wellhead Pressure Management Project (WPMP).  The 3GP scope is part of TCO's Future Growth Project (FGP) which is an integrated project developed primarily to increase the production capacity of the Tengiz Oil Field by an additional 12 million tons per year (260,000 barrels per day) and its gas production capacity by an additional 27 million m3 per day.  The project is being carried out using a modularized construction strategy, with modules constructed both at Kazakh coastal fabrication yards and at other fabrication yards in Europe and the Far East.  The project includes construction work for the crude processing plant and utilities areas.  Construction includes mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works, module stacking/installation/hook-up and pre-commissioning support are within the scope of the project.


Position Summary:

Assigned to the SK Construction organization as a Steam Blow Superintendent.  Responsible for overseeing planning and execution of both Subcontractor services and Direct Hire support for the Steam Blow Program.  Includes managing, coordinating, and administering the Steam Blow Program from planning through procurement, execution and completion.  Oversees schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates actions to assure program/project objectives are met.  Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of a high-performance project team.  Has responsibility for scope field execution, ensuring that Program/Project is delivered within contract requirements, standards of quality and safety, and to Customer and Bechtel performance expectations.


About the role:

  • Manages all direct hire labor, and subcontracted works related to the scope in their assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensures scope and objectives are defined, best practices/lessons learned reviewed, detailed work plans, schedules, budgets, and procedures are established.
  • Ensures integration of work plans of multiple execution units or entities, such as Joint Ventures. 
  • Monitors and controls all contractual commitments to ensure that all work is being performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings, and terms of the contract, that change orders and claims are processed in a timely manner. 
  • Oversees the Environmental, Safety & Health program for field work environments including contractor and subcontractor activities. 
  • Reviews and approves bid tabulations for commitments on all major purchase orders, contracts, and sub-contracts, and approves critical changes to these documents.
  • Promotes the management concept of Continuous Improvement (CI) among all members of the project team.  Initiates, promotes, and continually practices team building.
  • Promote and facilitate communication, review progress/performance, discuss issues, and facilitate problem resolution. 
  • Work with field supervision, planning and system cleaning specialist sub-contractor in the execution of all steam blow activities.
  • Manages reports and forecasts, including a summary of scope progress.
  • Monitors equipment usage on the site.
  • Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Ensures SK and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within the assigned area of responsibility. 
  • Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operation. Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings.
  • May be required to provide input on employee reviews of assigned subordinate personnel.


What you bring:

  • A recognized degree in engineering, project or construction management is required.
  • Experience with piping system cleanliness via steam blow process.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in field supervision on direct hire work.
  • Demonstrated planning and scheduling, procurement, and contracting experience.
  • Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
  • Able to work extended work schedules as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
