Project Overview:

The CPC Taichung Phase III LNG import terminal project scope is to deliver two 180,000 m3 Full Containment LNG Tanks Taiwan, which will become Taiwan’s largest storage tanks ever built when completed.

 

Job Summary:

The Tank Superintendent position is assigned to the Tank Field Construction Organization in a leading Supervisory capacity. Responsible for the direction of Tank Construction and related activities within an assigned area.

 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for managing safe tank erection operations.
  • Ensures safe construction practices and that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Provides leadership for safety and accident prevention programs on the project. Prepare safety procedures and monitor Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings, inspect the site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct all observed problems, lead weekly tool box safety meetings.
  • Responsible for the implementation of project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations. Ensures current design documents are used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation. Monitors work activities to ensure the safety and quality of work performed and compliance with project specifications.
  • Determines tank builder workforce requirements in consultation with LNG Tank management team. Plans, controls and supervises work to be performed by either subcontractor or direct hire manpower and with close adherence to contract schedule.
  • Responsible for supervising the safe work practices of the Subcontractors for the LNG Tank.
  • Reviews work accomplished by each craft team in order to meet the schedule and targets. Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Coordinates activities with other discipline superintendents or area superintendents and clients’ resident representatives, as instructed by LNG Tank management team.
  • Assist HR/IR Department in locating/identifying experienced Tank Builder Craft.
  • Responsible for scheduling and supervision of personnel in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensures subordinate personnel receive progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Overviews and monitors construction methods and procedures providing constructability input.
  • Monitors construction equipment, tool utilization and maintenance to ensure that the workforce are able to perform the work safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain good relationships with the client and their representatives, as assigned.
  • Performs general administrative functions inherent in jobsite supervisory positions such as Weekly Reports, timekeeping and progress reporting.
  • LNG Tank fabrication and construction experience is a key requirement

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 10 years demonstrated experience in tank building with strong supervision experience, excellent problem solving skills and the ability to lead and manage change is essential.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of construction methods of full containment LNG tank construction which includes knowledge of carbon steel and 9%Ni steel tank erection/welding, roof construction and air raises.
  • Knowledgeable of the major Codes relative to Tank/Pressure Vessel Erection, e.g. API-650, API-620, ASME Section VIII
  • Working knowledge of Tank Building Equipment & Tools.
  • Ability to train less experienced employees in the Fundamentals of Tank Erection.
  • Ability to work with multi-national employees.
  • Ability to organize & formulate long range plans.
  • Good communication skills and ability to effectively communicate plans to subordinates.
  • Truly holds Safety as a Core Value.
  • Must be familiar with tank building specialty equipment such as Lincoln LT-7’s and All-Time AGW’s (automatic girth welders).
  • Some Mandarin language skills preferred
