Project Overview:

Bechtel Equipment Operations, Inc. (BEO) is looking for an Equipment Operations Manager to support multiple projects across the North American Region. Position will be based in Sugar Land, Texas and will require 25% – 50% travel within North America.

 

Job Summary:

Successful candidate will provide support and technical consultation to projects within the region to understand daily equipment operations challenges. Responsible for oversight, project management and support of BEO activities within the region. This role encompasses support of multiple projects and involves program planning and delivery as well as liaison for the project sites within North America. #LI-AA1

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works on large and program projects responsible for equipment operations within the region.
  • Directs field equipment operations, develops equipment plans, cost estimates, and operating budgets for domestic and international projects within the region.
  • Works with projects and GBU management to provide strategic planning for optimal fleet utilization.
  • Provides technical consultation support for Work Process Procedures (WPP) development. Lessons learned review, and construction best practice identification.
  • Participates on Six Sigma Process Improvement Program (PIP) teams when required.
  • Assist with the product training and improvements needed to directly support construction and estimating teams as well as auditing the implementation for all sites as needed.
  • Assist in shaping the BEO business model and implement processes to maximize the use and choice of equipment in support of our projects.
  • Review and/or leads, as assigned, the preparation of construction equipment estimates, cost studies, schedule, and budgets.
  • Reviews project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule and coordinates the interfacing between the construction and project controls program at the jobsite.
  • Directs preparation of quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Determines that vendors’ bids for material and/or equipment are in conformance to specifications.
  • Monitors and ensures that the quality of work performed meets requirements.
  • Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by BEO management.
  • Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and in safe operational order.
  • Follow and ensure compliance with all Bechtel Safety and Quality procedures.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and 13 – 15 years of relevant experience or 17 – 19 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in management, operations, and leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash-flow management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline construction and / or operating functions.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and practices.
  • Knowledge of heavy-industrial equipment management work processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite in work processing, spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Experience in mobilizing and managing multiple locations at one time.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodologies preferred.
