Position Summary:

Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of equipment estimates for project and/or proposal efforts globally. Performs historical data analysis and champions the office estimating database, Equipment Scheduling System. Responsible for conceptual estimating, cost analysis and estimate planning, coordination, and consolidation.

    • Reports to and receives technical and operational supervision from designated supervisory personnel.
  • Contacts
    • Maintains relationships with functional and project personnel, particularly Bechtel Equipment Operations (BEO) business line leaders and department heads.
    • Provides routine or well-defined data, at supervisor’s request, to internal project customers.

 

Responsibilities:

The following duties are General/Common across disciplines within the Project Controls function:

  • Supports preparation of cost/schedule data for proposals or contracts.
  • Supports development of specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.

 

The following duties are performed with respect to Cost Engineering and Estimating:

  • Performs quantity takeoffs for equipment mix and schedule using defined systems. 
  • Assists in developing and implementing requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, programs, and reports. Performs performance monitoring and control functions for specific applications.
  • Prepares portions of estimates by contacting project team and others, to develop different project Construction Equipment Schedules (CES).
  • Participates in validation and consolidation of market basket rate calculations provided by procurement in support of the CES.
  • Investigates the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data.
  • Collects, reconciles, and verifies data for summary comparisons.
  • Supports the development of BEO Capital Expenditures (CapEx) estimates for project prospects and future years schedule using Equipment Schedule System (ESS).
  • Assists in reporting of BEO strategic equipment purchase, and rentals look ahead to procurement in support of price negotiations using ESS.
  • Identifies risks and develops contingency plans to mitigate impacts to the CES.
  • Review and approve coding of purchase orders, service orders, and field material requests.

 

The following duties are performed with respect to Scheduling:

  • Consolidates and maintains prospect pipeline listing and duration.
  • Assists with BEO Headcount and staffing forecasting.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Finance/Business related degree with up to 2 years of related professional work experience.
  • Must have advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Excel including advanced functions and pivot reporting.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and be comfortable working with and presenting financial information to senior management.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of working complex tasks through to completion with limited direction, supervision, time, and little or no support staff.
  • Must exercise utmost discretion in the handling of Bechtel/GBU strictly confidential financial information.
  • With exception of initial training period, this position will be work from home part time.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of EPC work processes and Controller procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Power Pivot.
