Project Overview:

Bechtel Equipment Operations, Inc. (BEO), a wholly owned Bechtel affiliate company, functions as the construction equipment asset manager of Bechtel Group and is actively engaged in projects across all of Bechtel's business lines. In support of its involvement, BEO uses sophisticated estimating and scheduling systems to assist projects in developing bid proposals, equipment lease versus purchase analysis, tool and consumable utilization forecasts, scaffold estimating and supply, and overall construction fleet utilization plans. Headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas, BEO also manages several permanent global equipment storage and support facilities.

Job Summary:

The Connected Fleet Level 1 Support Technician provides first-line technical support for Connected Fleet management systems and hardware. This role is responsible for maintaining data integrity across multiple fleet management platforms including Toolhound, Horsetrader, PEMS, Track Unit, and related applications. The technician performs data entry, troubleshoots software and hardware issues, assists field personnel with connectivity problems, and escalates complex technical issues to higher-level support teams. This position serves as the primary point of contact for basic technical support, ensuring system reliability and user productivity. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

Application Support & Data Management

  • Level 1 technical support for Connected Fleet apps (Toolhound, Horsetrader, PEMS, Track Unit, etc.)
  • Accurate data entry across multiple platforms, maintaining consistency and integrity
  • Regular audits and cross-reference checks to identify and correct data discrepancies
  • Update asset records, equipment status, location, and maintenance data in real-time
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels
  • Generate standard reports and track software issues via ticketing system

 

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Respond to support requests via phone, email, and ticketing system
  • Troubleshoot software issues (login, navigation, report errors, data sync) and hardware connectivity for scanners, tablets, RFID readers, and mobile devices
  • Escalate complex issues to Level 2/IT/vendors with documentation and follow up on resolution

 

System Administration & Maintenance

  • Monitor system performance and coordinate vendor updates and maintenance windows
  • Assist with testing new features, maintain documentation, knowledge base, and perform routine health checks

 

Training & Communication

  • Train new users, create reference materials, and conduct remote training sessions
  • Communicate outages and maintenance schedules; document feedback and feature requests

 

Hardware & Device Management

  • Set up and troubleshoot scanners, tablets, RFID readers, and BLE equipment
  • Coordinate repairs/replacements and assist with MDM tasks including app deployment

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain time tracking logs, participate in team meetings, support warehouse/inventory teams, and assist with special projects

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in technical support, help desk, or IT support role.
  • Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems and basic troubleshooting procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience using ticketing systems or help desk software to track and manage support requests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong customer service orientation with patience and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software applications and technical systems quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment and collaborate effectively with various departments.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Incidents" safety program. Must have a strong drive toward Safety, both on and off the job, a commitment to seeing everyone go home each day as well and healthy as they came to work that day
  • Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards and commitment to maintaining high quality work outputs.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites in the United States and overseas as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with fleet management software such as Toolhound, Horsetrader, PEMS, Track Unit, or similar applications.
  • Familiarity with asset tracking systems and RFID/BLE technology.
  • Experience with iOS devices and Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems.
  • Knowledge of barcode scanning equipment and troubleshooting scanner connectivity issues.
  • Understanding of network connectivity concepts including WiFi, cellular data, and VPN connections.
  • Experience in construction or industrial environments.
  • Experience creating training materials and conducting user training sessions.
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) to support diverse field workforce.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primary work location in office environment with occasional visits to warehouse and project sites.
  • Extended periods of computer use and phone communication.
  • May require occasional overtime or flexible hours to support 24/7 operations.
  • Occasional exposure to warehouse and construction site environments requiring appropriate PPE.
