Project Overview:
Bechtel Equipment Operations, Inc. (BEO), a wholly owned Bechtel affiliate company, functions as the construction equipment asset manager of Bechtel Group and is actively engaged in projects across all of Bechtel's business lines. In support of its involvement, BEO uses sophisticated estimating and scheduling systems to assist projects in developing bid proposals, equipment lease versus purchase analysis, tool and consumable utilization forecasts, scaffold estimating and supply, and overall construction fleet utilization plans. Headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas, BEO also manages several permanent global equipment storage and support facilities.
Job Summary:
The Field Operations Systems Specialist is responsible for proactively enabling field and operations teams through hands-on training, system adoption support, and front-line hardware troubleshooting across Field Operations Specialist. This role focuses on building user competency, resolving device and system issues in the field, and ensuring accurate, well-maintained data across systems such as ToolHound, HorseTrader, PEMS, and Trackunit.
This position partners closely with field personnel to deliver practical training, reinforce best practices, and identify opportunities to improve workflows, data accuracy, and system usability. While providing day-to-day support, the role is primarily centered on proactive enablement, issue prevention, and continuous improvement—not reactive ticket resolution. A strong attention to detail and a basic analytical mindset is required to validate data, spot anomalies, and support simple reporting that drives better equipment visibility, utilization, and decision-making. . #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
Field Enablement & Training
- Ability to design and deliver hands-on, role-based training for field and operations users (in-person and virtual)
- Strong coaching mindset with a focus on proactive user enablement, not reactive support
- Experience creating clear job aids, quick-start guides, and SOPs that reinforce best practices
- Ability to assess user skill gaps and tailor education to varying technical comfort levels
Technical Hardware & Systems Competency
- Practical experience supporting and troubleshooting field-facing hardware (e.g., telematics devices, trackers, scanners, mobile devices, gateways)
- Ability to diagnose connectivity, power, installation, and data‑flow issues from device to system
- Comfort working across integrated platforms and understanding how hardware, software, and data interact
- Strong attention to detail when validating device status, configurations, and data accuracy
Reporting & Light Data Analytics
- Proficiency in building and maintaining operational reports and dashboards (Excel, Power BI, or similar tools)
- Ability to validate, reconcile, and monitor data quality to ensure reports are accurate and trusted
- Skill in identifying trends, gaps, or anomalies and translating them into actionable insights
- Comfort working with large datasets without needing to be a dedicated data analyst
Process Simplification & Communication
- Exceptional ability to translate complex systems, workflows, and technical issues into clear, everyday language
- Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored to field crews, supervisors, and leadership
- Ability to simplify workflows, reduce manual effort, and promote consistent process adoption
- Confidence influencing without authority by aligning solutions to operational needs
Operational Mindset & Continuous Improvement
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for system health, adoption, and usability
- Proactive approach to identifying and preventing issues before they impact operations
- Ability to partner cross-functionally with operations, IT, vendors, and support teams
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a field-driven environment
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
- 2–3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, system administration, or technical support.
- Strong proficiency in data management, reporting, and data quality validation.
- Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and data analysis techniques.
- Ability to translate operational requirements into structured reports and dashboards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support non-technical users.
- Experience creating documentation, training materials, and process guides.
- High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with fleet management / asset management systems (Toolhound, Horsetrader, PEMS, Track Unit, or similar).
- Experience building dashboards in Microsoft Power BI or similar tools.
- Basic SQL knowledge for querying and validating data.
- Experience with training delivery and instructional design.
- Understanding of system integrations and data flow between platforms.
- Background in construction, logistics, or asset-intensive environments.
