Project Overview:
Job Summary:
Equipment Services Construction Equipment Manager will oversee all maintenance/repairs related to the construction equipment within Bechtel Equipment Operations Equipment Services department. The role ensures that equipment is available, functional, and used efficiently to meet project timelines and safety standards. This position will be based in Sugar Land, Texas but will require extensive business travel. The successful candidate should assume 80-90% of their time will be at project sites. This position will report directly to the Equipment Services Manager but coordinate closely with site equipment services teams and site management. #LI-TH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs: Ensure regular service and quick repairs to minimize downtime. Plan, direct, and control the maintenance of fleet equipment and maintenance of service documents.
- Compliance & Safety: Verify that equipment meets safety regulations. Manage the construction equipment resources on site in compliance with project HS&E policies and the applicable CORE Processes and SWPP'S.
- Cost Control: Monitor equipment-related maintenance expenses to validate useful life of equipment comparison with ongoing maintenance cost. Plan, direct, and control the maintenance of fleet equipment and maintenance of service documents.
- Inventory Management: Track equipment usage, location, and condition throughout the all projects supported by Equipment Services.
- Coordination: Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and vendors to align equipment availability with construction phases.
- Reporting: Oversees equipment maintenance systems reporting and equipment records management. Ensures that all the required daily, weekly and monthly reports are generated and distributed for use and analysis
- Supervision: Mechanics and technicians supporting Equipment Services will report to the Equipment Services Equipment Manager. The Equipment Manager will assign maintenance repair talks to the mechanic team and coordinate the mechanic team mobilization between projects.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of relevant work experience; degree must be in construction management, engineering, industrial technology, or business administration.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Extensive hands on experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Has understanding of equipment warranties, performance guarantees, and equipment fitness for use.
• Knowledge of multi-discipline construction and or operating functions.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements. Ensures compliance with Bechtel’s core value of zero accidents and project safety goals.
• Knowledge of heavy-industrial equipment management work processes and procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft suite in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
• Knowledge in the use of subcontracts and the contractor and subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
• Excellent customer relations and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
• Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) from AEMP (Association of Equipment Management Professionals).
• OSHA Safety Certification for field compliance.
• Equipment manufacturer technician certifications.
