Job Summary:
The purpose of the ES&H Specialist is to assist in the implementation of the ES&H program for BEO operations, inclusive of business development, supply chain, tools and consumables, equipment, and rigging. Key activities include ES&H program development, auditing, training, communication, and performance reporting. The position reports operationally to the BEO Leadership Team and functionally to the Corporate Manager of ES&H.
Major Responsibilities:
- Integration of ES&H requirements into planning, operations, schedules, and procurement.
- Provides technical assistance regarding risk and hazard assessment and other ES&H reviews.
- Assists in the preparation and implementation of ES&H plans, procedures, and training program.
- Research issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
- Participates in emergency response and aids the investigation and resolution of incidents.
- Assists in identifying stakeholders and resolving their concerns.
- Participates in meetings, as required, with customers, project team members, and pro-subcontractors.
- Conducts inspections and monitoring to help evaluate ES&H performance, identify the need for corrective actions, and confirm compliance with regulatory and Bechtel ES&H requirements.
- Develop ES&H presentations to support business development and BEO operations.
- Assists in tracking ES&H performance and trends and prepares reports.
- Develops safety and health communication through publications, posters, and other media.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in an ES&H or science-related discipline and 4+ years of relevant experience; or an Associate degree (or equivalent) in occupational safety, health or science related field and 6+ years of relevant experience; or in lieu of degree, 8+ years of experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Prior work experience related to applicable safety sciences and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge or experience in conducting risk assessments and training.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
- Adaptable and able to work outdoors under various project site and weather conditions.
- Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
