Job Summary:

The Deputy Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse Manager in overseeing daily warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant receipt, storage, inventory control, and distribution of materials and equipment. This role acts as the primary backup to the Warehouse Manager and provides direct supervision to warehouse staff, ensuring operational continuity, productivity, and adherence to company policies, safety standards, and project requirements. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in managing day‑to‑day warehouse operations, including receiving, inspection, storage, security, inventory control, and issuing of materials and equipment.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel, assign daily work activities, set priorities, and coordinate tasks to ensure timely completion of operational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, project procedures, and applicable warehousing, handling, and shipping regulations.
  • Enforces safety procedures and policies in the warehouse in accordance with Bechtel standards.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, and system updates; identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support identification, tracking, and disposition of damaged, surplus, excess, or obsolete materials in coordination with management.
  • Enforce health, safety, hygiene, and security standards to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist with staffing plans, employee utilization, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance feedback for warehouse staff.
  • Prepare and support operational reports, inventory status summaries, and performance metrics as required by management.
  • Serve as acting Warehouse Manager in the manager’s absence, ensuring uninterrupted warehouse operations and decision‑making authority within established guidelines.
  • Supports time recording and payroll information processing for warehouse personnel.
  • Creates material purchase requisitions in support of day-to-day warehouse operations;

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-10+ years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Supervises warehouse and support personnel.
  • Ability to communicate with project site personnel to respond to requests for materials and provide information regarding order status.
  • Conducts safe start meetings and monitors safety compliance of warehouse personnel.
  • Assists in operational and personnel decisions but typically does not have final hiring or termination authority.
  • Coordinates work activities with other supervisors and operational teams to meet warehouse and project objectives.
  • Experienced with an electronic inventory system.  Toolhound experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with electronic procurement systems.  DSCS experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience using the Microsoft suite of tools including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerBI. 
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive warehouse or inventory management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive supervisory experience.
