Project Overview:
Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. M&T is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets. Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering technical aspects for complex projects. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget. Reports to the Project Engineering Manager.

Major Responsibilities:
- Supervises the engineering activity (all disciplines) on a semiconductor project, or designated portions of a project.
- Plans and directs third party engineering assignments on a large semiconductor project.
- Has technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating third party engineering assignments related to a semiconductor Fab facility.
- Works with the project contracts manager to manage engineering subcontracts with their design and delivery per contract requirements.
- Supervises the preparation of subcontract requisitions.
- May exercise operational supervision over assigned third party engineering subcontractors.
- As directed, manages the complex organizational interactions that evolve from the participation of several Bechtel entities on the project or from client-established relationships with other contractors.
- Establishes and maintains access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project and sets up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort.
- Requires a broad knowledge of administrative practices.
- Establishes the detailed project scope, including basic engineering criteria and assumptions.
- Responsible for project engineering schedules and budgets and plays a major role in the total installed cost of the entire facility.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality of design and making the facility safe for construction and operations personnel.
- The primary contact with our customer(s) and our senior management on matters relating to project engineering progress, quality, scope, and technical/permitting issues.
- Represents Engineering in respect to major items with suppliers.
- Travels on business to the jobsite and subcontractor offices as required.
- Champions the creation of a work environment, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project.
- Conducts annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
- Requires relevant design engineering experience including multi-functional supervisory/leadership experience on several medium size projects or designated portions of a very large or complicated projects.
- Requires experience managing engineering subcontracts.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
- Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures.
- Professional Engineer Registration (New York)
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A recognized degree in architecture or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
