Project Overview:

Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company will provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for the development of certain defined aspects of the NEOM Infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  


NEOM is a planned cross-border city in the Tabuk Province of northwestern Saudi Arabia. The site is near the Red Sea and the borders of EgyptIsrael and Jordan. It will cover a total area of 26,500 km2 (10,200 sq mi) and will extend 460 km along the coast of the Red Sea.”


NEOM will be the home and workplace to more than a million residents from around the world. It will include towns and cities, ports and enterprise zones, research centres, sports and entertainment venues, and tourist destinations. As a hub for innovation, entrepreneurs, business leaders and companies will come to research, incubate and commercialize new technologies and enterprises in ground-breaking ways.


Role Purpose:

The purpose of the Steel & Rebar Materials Manager, Construction Logistics role is to provide strategic leadership and effective management of the loading/unloading, transportation, and storage of steel and rebar materials, as well as any further responsibilities commensurate with the grade. The role will work collaboratively with all Managers in the Construction Programme Logistics team to deliver and supply steel rebar for all Projects areas.  


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, coordination, transportation, and correct storage of Structural and Steel reinforcement materials in the Construction project Logistics Laydown and Regional Logistic Parks.
  • Manage and organize all Steel deliveries using a Delivery Management System to ensure timely scheduled deliveries are achieved to projects Laydown areas and Regional Logistic Parks.
  • Work collaboratively with Program Logistics Executive leadership team to develop and implement the required planning for steel rebar materials supply and storage across NEOM Projects.
  • Provide Construction Program Logistics’ Leadership team with periodic status updates and reports as required.
  • Manages and directs the development and execution of Construction Logistics contract strategies and service delivery models for transportation and storage of steel rebar materials as required.
  • Advise Program Logistics Leadership team of Construction Logistics requirements to be facilitate timely load, transport, unload, and storage of bulk Steel / Rebar materials to help all Projects in the NEOM organization.
  • Responsible for the managing the operation and maintenance of all transport equipment, storage facilities equipment, and manufacturing/bending equipment for all steel rebar materials in all Construction Logistics areas. 
  • Ensure the operations of all transportation and storage facilities of steel rebar materials are always complying with Environmental, Safety, and Health requirements. 
  • Develop all relevant SOPs related to the transportation, storage, and manufacture/bending of steel rebar materials.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of steel and rebar materials supply chain
  • Strong knowledge of steel and rebar materials, transportation and storage requirements.
  • Knowledge of key infrastructure required for port and offshore materials loading/unloading areas for steel/rebar
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation and technical writing skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in construction management, cranes, and rigging of large steel rebar materials 
  • Experience in rebar supply and operations of civil concrete activities. 
  • Ability to develop and implement creative, innovative programs and initiatives as related to delivery and handling of steel and rebar materials.
  • Experience with international steel materials supply chain is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or engineering with Minimum of (15) years of work experience of which (5) years at the managerial level and associated with performing in a similar role and responsibilities. 
  • Or master’s degree in construction management or engineering with (10) years of work experience of which (5) years at the managerial level and associated with performing in a similar role and responsibilities.
