Safety Manager - (NEOM Secondment)

Project Description:

Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company will provide executive project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for the development of certain defined aspects of the NEOM Infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

NEOM is a planned cross-border city in the Tabuk Province of northwestern Saudi Arabia. The site is near the Red Sea and the borders of Egypt, Israel and Jordan. It will cover a total area of 26,500 km2 (10,200 sq mi) and will extend 460 km along the coast of the Red Sea.”

NEOM will be the home and workplace to more than a million residents from around the world. It will include towns and cities, ports and enterprise zones, research centers, sports and entertainment venues, and tourist destinations. As a hub for innovation, entrepreneurs, business leaders and companies will come to research, incubate and commercialize new technologies and enterprises in groundbreaking ways. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage safety incident investigation process.
  • Lead / patriciate in safety incident investigations
  • Address root causes of incidents and ensure prevention of reoccurrence and identification of improvement opportunities
  • Assess the effectiveness of Organizations health and safety management systems and programs and their implementation
  • Effectively participate in incident investigations following NEOM’s procedures and regulations and the industry best practices.
  • Participate and recommend improvements in the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of NEOM’s incident reporting and investigations procedures and practices.
  • Review incident investigations reports and monitor, check and provide feedback to the originating organization with respect to completeness.
  • Review incident investigations reports and documentation for accuracy and integrity.
  • Track incident investigation actions/recommendations implementation and closure.
  • Maintain records and database of all incidents reports, lessons learned and generated actions.
  • Conduct trend analysis of investigations findings to address deficiencies and identify appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor the compliance and identify and address safety issues that would lead to potential incidents.
  • Undertake regular inspections of the premises to identify any potential hazards
  • Liaise regularly with site management staff over identified hazards within their area of responsibility.
  • Develop and organize proper incident investigation training as required.
  • Work on the development of advanced user-friendly incident reporting platform.
  • Carry out Audit and Inspection functions.
  • Undertake assignments related to safety management and loss prevention
  • Participate in design reviews and safety studies.
  • Develop and update safety standards and procedures
  • Work with proponent organizations to identify safety concerns and develop practical and cost-effective solutions to address them.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge and skills in safety incident investigations and reporting.
  • 12+ years of experience in Occupational Health Safety and incident investigations
  • Experienced and hold a certification on Taproot analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices
  • Experience in reporting and developing policies
  • Experience in implementing OSH training programs
  • Safety related Degree/Diploma (NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent)
  • Extensive knowledge of root cause analysis and investigations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BSc in Occupational health and safety management or an engineering field
  • Hold incident investigation certificates from credited organization.
  • Master degree is a plus

 

The duration of engagement is to November, 2021.

 

Living Conditions:

Living and Working on the NEOM Project is a single status assignment condition located in Sharma, KSA with camp accommodation (Meals and Laundry Services provided).

Due to COVID 19 challenges during the startup of the project special flights and quarantine accommodations will be provided.
