Job Summary:
The expediting’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the Supplier and its vendor, subcontractors meet the contractual date(s) specified in the Contract/Purchase Order for the receipt of data and documentation, delivery of the purchased goods, and performance of all other contractual deliverables/activities that are governed by the Project requirements. Expediting will assign, coordinate, and facilitate visits to the Supplier facilities using assigned shop/area expeditors or other Project personnel as required. The contractual provisions will govern and regulate, as applicable, the accessibility to sub-tier suppliers’ facilities if the primary supplier is not managing the sub-supplier or direct interface with Project personnel can be used to mitigate schedule or other risk.
Located at various Bechtel permanent office locations, performs tasks involved in the formation and administration of purchase orders. Communicates with suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements, and to assure performance to purchase order terms and conditions. Prepares bidder pre-qualification, bidder lists, bid solicitation, bid analysis, makes commitments and administers purchase orders.

- Supervises: May guide and train expediting staff
- Contacts: Works with the Customer, Project Supply Chain team, and Suppliers including Owner Furnished Equipment; Form, administer, and expedite orders from development to closure Compliance: Follow sourcing strategy, Approved Manufacturers List, and tariff/quota considerations.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project and to be coordinated with the supervisor. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-VB1
Major Responsibilities:
The Senior Expediter will be responsible for reporting Supplier progress and productivity by administering and reporting Supplier schedules, to ensure alignment with Project schedule and delivery milestones for tracking. The expediting activities include but are not limited to:
- Confirming the Supplier baseline schedule dates comply with the contractual provisions.
- Establishment of clear lines of communication and contacts for the Customer, EPC Contractor and the Supplier.
- Document any action by the Owner, the EPC Contractor or the Supplier that may affect the progress and record any circumstances that could lead to claims and issue alert in writing if necessary.
- Monitoring progress towards delivery completion including data submittals and delivery of goods through direct contact with the Supplier.
- Coordinate priorities and delivery dates with planning and field teams.
- Verify milestone accomplishments by the Supplier per the contractual requirements and collaborate with supplier quality representatives’ meetings & reporting.
- Monitor compliance with the required quality surveillance/inspection test plan.
- Monitor shipment to the Site through direct contact with the Supplier.
- Ensure that each party (Customer/EPC Contractor/Supplier) performs its contractual duties towards the other party (i.e. prompt submission and return of technical submittals, timely resolution of requests for information, correspondence, etc.)
- Maintain updated status information regarding Supplier schedule. This information can be obtained from sources such as telephone contacts, progress reports, establishing a tracking system report, packing list and Material Receiving Reports (MRRs) and area expediting assignments (when required and as approved by Project Management).
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering from a reputed University.
- Demonstratable experience of similar job in Combined Cycle Power Plants and Power Island Equipment is highly preferred.
- Recognized as advanced contributor with specialized skill set.
- Post-graduate specialization in Supply Chain Management preferred.
- 10+ years of industry experience including minimum 3 years in both purchasing and expediting functions.
- Ability to source items of moderate complexity.
- Broad knowledge and related sourcing experience and may participate in negotiations under direction of others.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency and experience in the administration and expediting of purchase orders.
- Proficiency in procurement including knowledge of and skill in communicating effectively with suppliers, prequalification, knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code or applicable commercial legislation, negotiation of contracted terms and conditions, and award of commitments.
- Proficiency in the administration of commitments, monitoring supplier performance, back-charge procedures and the resolution of claims and disputes.
- Good understanding of equipment and material fabrication steps and methods.
- Skilled in working with, and communicating effectively both orally and in writing with other project functional groups.
- Capable of providing early warning to the Project Management of supplier deficiencies or schedule slippage.
- Capable of interpreting schedules to ensure they are realistic, that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
