Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Procurement Lead - Owner Procurement for the Mining & Metals team, based in Chile. Position will be responsible for assigned activities within a Procurement function in a global business unit. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of Procurement expertise to Procurement projects or initiatives, in the performance of specialized activities within the functional group assigned, such as purchasing, expediting, supplier quality, traffic & logistics, Procurement Systems or inventory.



The Procurement Lead - Owner Procurement is principally responsible for:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews Procurement work within a discipline on projects or assignment in support of a global business unit.

  • Coordinates and interfaces with the day-to-day work of project team members or global business unit Procurement managers.

  • Prepares execution plans, budget estimates, and procedures in accordance with project or global business unit functional scope and implements accordingly.

  • Accumulates and maintains data for reporting of group metrics.

  • Performs due diligence surveys as requested.

  • Stays abreast with current events and changing economic conditions such as market trends, lead time indexes, base material price and availability fluctuations, currency fluctuations, and emerging third-world supply sources.concerning specialized global business unit equipment and materials.

  • Reviews and approves key Procurement deliverables within assigned function as requested.

  • Coordinates assigned work with other project and discipline groups.

  • Provides on-the-job training to Procurement specialists as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

The Procurement Lead - Owner Procurement shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.

  • 10 years of related experience. 

Additional Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of host country, industry, or regulatory codes and standards that affect the purchase and movement of materials and equipment.

  • Familiarity with unique state-of-the-art technology, specialized suppliers of systems, equipment and materials in a particular global business unit.  

  • Skilled in the use of Bechtel Procurement System in multiple modules.
