Project Overview:
Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.
Job Summary:
As the Prime Contracts Specialist across multiple studies, you will be working in our Santiago office supporting multiple Project Managers with the management of the commercial relationship with our clients, implementation of a prime contract management program, administration procedures and the development and delivery of training.
Although this role is initially focused on studies, there will be an opportunity to support others in delivery of execution projects and ultimately progress onto an execution project.
We are looking for a talented and disciplined individual, interested and experienced in implementing strategies for contractual compliance and addressing commercial challenges.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership".
Major Responsibilities:
- Managing contract compliance with a focus on identifying and mitigating project risks and delivering positive project outcomes.
- Ensuring management of the contract complies with Bechtel’s internal practices and requirements including in relation to performance against the agreed baseline, risk management and change management.
- Participating in key project meetings and working closely with other functional departments, including Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls and Construction to identify and operationalise opportunities for improved project performance.
- Facilitating resolution of contractual and commercial issues (including liaising with internal Bechtel stakeholders) as they arise.
- Supporting the development and delivery of ongoing project training on a variety of commercial matters.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to successfully partner across various functions and projects to influence effective commercial management.
- Using your strong commercial acumen and initiative, you will select appropriate and innovative methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for solving issues and obtaining outstanding results.
- Prioritising customer centricity - both internally and externally - is key to resolving commercial challenges while preserving strong relationships.
