Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards. 

Major Responsibilities:

• Planning, developing, coordinating and reviewing design work within a small-size PD&P design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit​.
• Producing drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing​. Ensuring PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
• Coordinating and interfacing as directed with the day-to-day technical work of PD&P engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters​.
• Communicating complex technical issues and recommending solutions to upper management​.
• Facilitating technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators)​.
• Preparing or overseeing the preparation of PD&P design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly​.
• Developing Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices​.
• Coordinating with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work​.
• Reviewing key PD&P engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries​.
• Mentoring PD&P designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development​.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires Technical degree related to Industrial Design, and at least 15+ years of relevant experience. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficiency using a S3D layout / Piping design platform  
• Proficiency using a 3D isometric & 2D drawing extraction software.
• Experience using 3D piping / layout modelling tools is mandatory for this position.
• Experience using 3D/2D drafting tools.​
• Intermediate English level (desirable).
