Permits Specialist

The Permits Specialist Supervisor will provide engineering and design support to engineering teams on one or a number of Bechtel projects. Reporting to the Permits Lead, they will prepare and track permits documentation required from and to the project.

Will be Grade 26.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Safety – Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) procedures and contribute to safety in design work processes. 

·         Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Project.

·         Manage technical input to project permitting process.

·         Ensure the timely preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals, including problem analysis and review of design. 

·         Check manufacturer's drawings and data for compliance with specifications. 

·         Assist in developing or review of material quantity estimates. 

·         Compile, verify and correlate data relating to engineering problems. 

·         Assist in evaluation of suppliers and participate in hazard studies.

·         Coordinate assigned work with other technical personnel as directed. 

·         Participate in team meetings and reviews and maintain interaction with engineers and other designers in all disciplines. 

·         Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management

Basic Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university, or Post graduate qualifications in Environmental Engineering or related discipline is desirable, as well as a minimum of one year related work experience. 

·         An understanding of mining industry requirements and national environmental regulations. 

·         Specialist experience in any of the following is desirable: water treatment (acid mine drainage, potable, sewerage etc), noise abatement, pollution, dust and fugitive emissions control, hydrology, Australian environmental legislation. 

·         Practical work experience as an Environmental Engineer on large scale industrial and / or mining projects is desirable.

·         Previous experience with an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company or experience on an operational mine site is desirable.

Salary will be based on current market rates and the posted grade will not be adjusted to suit the successful candidate.
