Project Overview:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before



Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the design, development, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. You will collaborate and support other engineering disciplines for mechanical matters. Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques and criteria will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating, selecting, and appllying standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​. 
  • Participating in the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes used utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​. 
  • Coordinating work and collaborating with other engineering disciplines​. 
  • Providing technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards​. 
  • Providing assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution. 
  • Preparing or assisting in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Role requires a degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of dry and wet area equipment applied in projects and equipment required in mining industry processes (mandatory).
  • On-the-ground experience in the mining industry (valued).
  • Knowledge of design and calculation of material handling equipment in concentrator plants (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the development and analysis of calculations of water networks and pulps (mandatory).
  • Knowledge of calculation development for air networks, air conditioning and fire protection systems (desirable).
  • Candidate must effectively apply knowledge and technical skills to solve a variety of problems, complete tasks/assignments and provide guidance and advice.
  • Candidate must have sufficient experience and skills to act with considerable professional autonomy.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks.
  • Advanced intermediate level of oral and written English (will be valued).
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
