Project Overview:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

This is a junior position, with the expectation of the successful candidate having already developed planning skills appropriate with this designation. This position provides the opportunity to learn and develop your planning skills. You will be responsible for assisting with the development, maintainenance, and monitoring the project schedule. You will also help with ensuring the full scope of work for the project is included in the plan, with appropriate scheduling sequences and logic, that comply with the critical path methodology (CPM). In addition, you will assist with the implementation of resource loading and leveling as needed. While this is a developmental position the expectation is for the candidate to have a working knowledge of EPC work processes and procedures as it relates to the successful planning and execution of a project.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with schedule updates and continuous monitoring. Identifying deviations and working with the team to find and implement mitigations as needed.
  • Assisting with the integration of the full scope for all functions, departments and/or disciplines into the schedule.
  • Assisting with resource loading the schedule and leveling of the resources to be controlled as well as the development of progress and workforce curves, sustained rates, etc. that demonstrate and ensure realism in planning.
  • Under direction of the project lead scheduler developing, evaluating and reviewing the duration of all schedule activities by each discipline and help ensure they support the project’s milestones. Participating in the communication of the schedule to disciplines/departments helping to ensure they agree to the schedule and understand their responsibilities in the schedule.
  • Assisting with execution of comparative analyses with plans of similar characteristics and scope already executed to demonstrate the viability of the plan.
  • Assisting with “what if” analysis of the project schedule as required to determine the criticality of the programmed activities. Recommending alternatives for schedule improvement to the project team for discussion and/or decision.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2 to 5 years of relevant experience or if you do not have a bachelor's degree of 6 to 9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience developing, monitoring, updating, and reviewing plans and schedules for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) functions.
  • Familiar with all associated schedule control tools such as percent complete, workforce curves, etc.
  • Experience with commonly used software packages including compentency with Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, PowerBi, Teams among others. Proficiency with multiple discipline-specific software applications such as Primavera.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak in meetings and present work products as needed.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is required.
