Job Summary:
This role will carry out design work, in coordination with the engineering team of the discipline, seeking to cover all the necessary scopes of work to give compliance to the defined deliverables. You will complement the design and actively work on the development of technical solutions. Your contributions should be focused on solving the technical problems that arise, which may be related to instrumentation and valves, with control systems, with auxiliary systems for operation, with communications systems and / or with support infrastructure, such as control rooms, operation rooms, servers, data centers and optical fiber infrastructure.
Major Responsibilities:
- Understanding the general process of design work for control and instrumentation systems, and knowing how to organize, plan, budget and schedule the activities of designers and draftsmen. Selecting and applying standard Control and Instrumentation Systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment when making contributions, adaptations, and modifications.
- Participating in the design, development and modification of mechanical components and processes using Relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDP), design standards and guides and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAP). Coordinating Control Systems engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the customer, supplier, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
- Preparing plant plans and other design drawings (or sketches) in 2D using CAD tools (MicroStation) from which detailed 3D design models (CAD) and/or construction drawings can be completed.
- Preparing parts of the 3D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers.
- Reviewing and verifying calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by vendors as assigned.
- Preparing design calculations used in the discipline. Preparing estimates of bulk materials and requisitions of materials applicable to the discipline.
- Working with designers from other disciplines to coordinate designs.
- Answering questions from the client or the construction group about the design within the scope of work.
- Compiling, maintaining records and having available the information that supports the work documents and records and controls of plans.
- Participating and fostering a work environment based on transparency, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree related to the position, and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in development of engineering projects.
- Knowledge of the Intergraph Smart Instrumentation (SPI) tool.
- Knowledge of the tool for 2D designs Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk Autocad.
- Knowledge of the tool for 3D designs Intergraph Smart 3D.
- Knowledge of the Microstation design tool.
- Knowledge of the management and collaborative work tool Bentley ProjectWise.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of the Office, Excel and Visio tools of the Microsoft suite.
- Intermediate English level. Knowledge of the Microstation design tool.
