Project Overview:
Ujina Growth Project:
The mining area is located 185 km southeast of Iquique, at 4,400 meters above sea level, in Tarapacá Region. The main objective of Doña Inés de Collahuasi’s project is to increase the concentrator’s throughput capacity from an average of 170 ktpd to 210 ktpd. Currently, the awarded service corresponds to the execution of Package PG1 - the first of three packages contemplated for this project - which involves the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) of six flotation cells, and on-site support during the construction phase. Service for package PG1, which began on August 1, 2023, is a continuation of the study phase (FEL3) and is expected to be completed in February 2025.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project expediting operations. You will distribute workload, monitor assignments, evaluate production schedules and progress, and develop procedures. You will contact suppliers, initiate follow-up, monitor quality, and prepare supplier evaluations. Your planning and problem solving will ensure expediting operations meet project needs.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”.
Major Responsibilities:
- Participating in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project and area expediting operations for medium sized projects.
- Representing Expediting at project team meetings.
- Distributing workload to assigned project expeditors according to the experience and ability of the expeditor, the degree of complexity of the work and the urgency of the need for action.
- Contacting suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data, and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment.
- Evaluating production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if suppliers’ programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements.
- Expediting Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval, and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers.
- Participating in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates.
- Coordinating shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative.
- Supervising the streamlining activities in a small-sized project.
- Monitoring supplier performance and provides advice or direction to ensure compliance with policies, procedures or guidelines.
- Supporting Project Activation Specialists by providing supervisory intervention on orders with unique or especially difficult problems.
- Developing project-specific procedures with the Project Purchasing Manager with the agreement of the global business unit Streamlining Manager.
- Reviewing the staffing and streamlining workload of the project and, when the coverage is insufficient or excessive, initiates corrective actions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Considered skilled and competent in the discipline of administration and activation.
- Understanding of the area of specialization, able to solve a wide range of problems.
- Ability to work on problems of diverse scope where data analysis requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Good judgment in the selection of methods and techniques to obtain solutions.
- Ability to create networks and connects with internal and external staff in their own field of expertise.
- Possesses responsibility for problem solving while working under defined guidelines.
- Able to assist less experienced team members.
